The goal is basically to collect rent from opponents until you drive them into bankruptcy. Researching a little about the best board games in History and the most used in English classes, I found Scrabble ( which by the way you can find here my post about it) and Monopoly!įor those who never heard about or never played Monopoly before, it’s a game created by Elizabeth Magie in 1904 intended to teach Henry George’s theory about the danger of land monopolies, It was called Landlord’s Game, and after designed by Charles Darow, nowadays it is produced by Hasbro. I know, funny classes are awesome, but look, they’re still classes! I don’t like the idea of using a game in classroom just for fun without any real purpose behind it. Lately I’ve been reflecting a lot about the usage of games in English teaching, how can we use it, how can we build our games, how useful they might be.
